Treñas's wishlist for 2008
City Mayor Jerry Treñas is hopeful that the major problems that affects the further development of the city will be addressed this year. The mayor identified the problems as instability of power and water supply in the city and the perennial flooding in several districts.
Treñas said the problems that hamper the continuing development of the city should be resolved to attract investors.
The availability of power and water are the basic factors that encourage the investors to pour in investments.
Presently, there are two companies offering to provide alternative power supply to the city, one with the use of coal fired power plant and the other one the conversion of waste to energy.
The city likewise needs to resolve its problem on flooding. Major streets in the city become flooded after a few minutes of heavy rains. The drainage system is clogged because of the waste especially plastics that are thrown in the canals.
Meanwhile, the mayor is also exerting effort to address the problems on the health needs of the residents as he vowed to support the construction of more health centers for every district in the city and the distribution of PhilHealth cards.
The additional financial support for the two technical schools in Molo and Bo.Obrero is also on the priority list of the mayor. People in the barangay who wish to learn skills from the two technical schools can avail of help, free of charge. Currently, the city is applying before the TESDA to upgrade their skills training.
