DepEd introduces innovation on school enrollment
The City Division of Schools here is introducing innovation this coming school year to ease out congestion during enrollment in public schools.
Dr. Erlinda Gencaya, city division superintendent, said the enrolment innovation would facilitate the automatic enrollment of Grade Two up to Grade Six and Second Year up to Fourth Year high school by posting the names of pupils in their respective school room.
Gencaya said this would facilitate the orderly and easy manner in enrollment and pupils will only have to look for their names and register with their teacher-in-charge.
Only those in Grade One, First Year High School and Transferees are to be enrolled this coming enrollment days starting June 2 while a one-week school preparation and school cleaning through the Brigada Eskwela will be conducted before the official school year.
Classes will definitely start on June 10 in the 52 public elementary and 11 high schools in this city. Expected to be registered this year are some 42,000 elementary pupils and some 20,000 high school students, Gencaya said.
The Division head also warned teachers not to ask for immediate payment of school fees, but that they have to wait for at least one month for parents to pay for fees such as Red Cross, Girls Scout, Boys Scout, PTCA and other mandatory fees.
Public education is absolutely free and there should be no tuition or matriculation fees to be collected from students. Similarly, school supplies will also be provided by the government, Gencaya said. (PNA)
