Janiuay couple cries for help on 2 missing kids
JANUIAY, Iloilo -- A couple who survived the onslaught of Typhoon Frank in Janiuay, Iloilo is seeking the public's help to find two missing children aged 2 and 4.
Among the 16 recorded missing here, 39 year-old Ninfa Armada with five of her ten children were rescued by strangers after floating in the Suage River for over an hour. Ninfa's husband, 44 year-old Alberto survived as well and was distraught upon discovery of his missing kids.
In an interview yesterday, Alberto confirmed that 2 year-old Chin-Chin and son, 4 year-old Julius have yet to be accounted for.
Both are hopeful that the children may have been saved in nearby barangays with the Armada family now among the 15 families seeking refuge in the town's covered gym.
"Ginhimo namon barko amon balay nga naguba kag gin anod sa suba asta nga nabunggo kami sa dalum taytay. Maluoy man kamo. Buligi niyo kami sagap sang amon bata ," Alberto's plea went.
Meantime, town officials yesterday buried an unidentified corpse belonging to a woman in advanced state of decomposition. The body was headless when discovered and recovered by locals in Barangay Danao last Sunday. No claimant of the headless body reported to the municipality. Mayor Ben Margarico said Janiuay has 18 fatalities as of yesterday.
