No classes yet in 25 city schools
Some 33 elementary and secondary schools will resume its classes today after the assessment made by officials of the City Schools Division and the city government. Classes however in at least 25 schools mostly in Jaro district remain suspended.
City Schools Physical Facilities Supervisor I Rufino Besonia said the schools that will resume classes today are those in the districts of Molo, City Proper and Arevalo. The said schools are already free from evacuees and of any devastation brought about by typhoon Frank, he said.
The resumption of classes in schools that are either used as evacuation center or still in mud depends on the discretion of their respective principals. The city schools and city government officials met Tuesday afternoon to further assess on whether to continue the suspension of classes for additional number of days, said Besonia.
Besonia said the mud left in the affected schools may carry different bacteria that might affect the health of the students so there is a need for proper cleaning and disinfecting of the classrooms.
