Capitol dads give nod on Batad public market expropriation proceedings
Batad Mayor Elvira Alarcon and town officials here are now backed by the Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) on planned expropriation proceedings here.
Subject of Committee Report No. 85 Series of 2008, the committee in yesterday's special session recommended the approval of said plan as contained in Municipal Ordinance No. 38-2007.
"The Committee on Ordinances, Legal Matters and Inter-Government Relations to which the above-subject Ordinance was referred has considered the same and after seeking the opinion of the Provincial Legal Office hereby recommends that the same be declared valid and legal under the Local Government Code of 1992, Sec. 19," excerpts of the Committee report went.
Chairman of said committee is Fourth District George Demaisip who likewise presented yesterday's committee report.
The Ordinance laid down the authority for Mayor Alarcon and Batad officials "to institute appropriate steps to effect the expropriation of that parcel of land known as Lot No. 52…" The area is where the Batad Public Market stands covering some 4,450 square meters.
