Sapian ready to host coop month on Nov. 4-5
SAPIAN, Capiz – This town under the leadership of Mayor Arturo "Turic" Orosco, Sr. is ready to host the scheduled cooperative month celebration on November 4-5 in cooperation with 16 other towns and Roxas City.
Orosco told The News Today (TNT) that the municipal government will shell out the amount of P500,000 purposely for the affair.
He said that there are some pledges coming from Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. in the amount of P200,000; 2nd District Congressman Fredenil Castro, P150,000; Vice Gov., Felipe Barredo, P50,000 and many others.
Orosco said different committees are currently working on the streamers, trade fair booth, plaza decorations and other amenities for the celebration.
"To make the occasion lively, we are requiring all municipalities to have playground demonstrations that they could contribute as intermission numbers during the affair," Orosco said.
As to the security measures, Orosco said that the town will deploy some 100 to 120 barangay tanods to supervise the traffic and the local police to maintain the peace and order during the occasion.
He also revealed that as of press time, 11 towns already signified their intention to participate in the trade fair where one-town-one product (OTOP) will be displayed.
Orosco, who is supported by his wife, Mrs. Evangeline Onas Orosco, Ph.D., said that on Nov. 4 will be the start of the trade fair display and on Nov. 5 will be the coop proper.
It was learned that this town will shoulder most of expenses incurred during the celebration. It will also have raffle among the participants where prices at stake are TVs, refrigerators and other appliances.
