Coscolluela to present design of P465M proposed city hall building
Architect Willie Coscolluela will present today the proposed plan for the construction of a seven-storey new city hall building to the officials of the city government. The recent estimates for the construction cost reached to P465,039,000.
Coscolluela won in the bid to design the construction of the building for more than P12 million. His presence was called for after the Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution requiring him to present the basic design for the proposed city hall building.
Instead of appearing before the legislative body, Coscolluela preferred to present the design before the city officials especially with Mayor Jerry Treñas in a different venue. The presentation will be held at the Sarabia Manor and Convention Center.
Months after an agreement was signed between the architect and the city government, Coscolluela has yet to present the basic design for the project. What is available at the present is the perspective design of the proposed new city hall building.
The issue on the proposed construction of the new city hall building became heated after the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) expressed their intention in coming up with an architectural design at a lower cost compared with the concept earlier made by Coscolluela.
It is Coscolluela who cornered the contract for the architectural design and the Pacific-Orient Consultants & Management Co. Inc through its General Manager Conrado Goco who prepared the estimates for the proposed city hall building.
In the 2006 estimates, the cost of an eight-storey building is P378,987,675. In March 2008 estimates for the construction cost of the city hall building only amounted to P463,883,922. Six months later, the estimated construction cost already reached to P465,039,000.
