Tubungan regulates sale of firecrackers, pyro works
Sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic works in the Municipality of Tubungan has been regulated.
With the influx of local and transient vendors here noticed, the town council moved to pass Ordinance No. 2008-08. In a legislative review, the Committee on Public Order and Safety of the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) approved and gave go-signal to the Ordinance.
As such, prohibition has been set on any person to display, sell or manufacture big firecrackers outside the designated firecracker zones. Even the wanton lighting is now prohibited with the town's barangay officials tasked to identify the safe zones.
Exemptions though were also considered particularly in the event of coronation programs, barangay fiestas and other celebrations with the organizers asked to secure a permit.
The regulation covers "big firecrackers" such as locally-made ones in the likes of Bilong-Bilong, Sapsap, Super Lolo and Kamara.
No sari-sari stores can just freely sell or display the "big" ones just as no commercial spaces, buildings or warehouses may keep stocks unless otherwise allowed by the municipal government.
