City has yet to release P1.5M financial assistance to IDFI
The city government has yet to release the remaining P1.5 million of the P3 million they pledged to the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) as financial assistance for the 2009 Dinagyang festival.
A source said the foundation is still waiting on when the city is going to disburse the remaining P1.5 million. The foundation is finding a hard time in looking for sponsors to sustain its expenses for the activity. Though, they still made several innovations to make the festival more festive to draw both local and foreign tourists.
It was not immediately known on what caused the delay in the release of the financial assistance to the foundation. The foundation tried its best in looking for sponsors to address the financial needs of the festival. They even cut-down expenses they deemed unnecessary.
Earlier, the amount of sponsorships provided by Globe and Smart tremendously decreased compared to previous years. The two companies used to give millions of pesos for their sponsorship to the Dinagyang festival.
