Seaman takes life in Guimaras farm
Tragedy struck a family of a returning sea-based Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) following Tuesday’s grim discovery of his lifeless body.
An apparent case of suicide, the incident occurred in Jordan, Guimaras with the victim identified as a 47 year-old resident of Quintin Salas, Jaro, Iloilo City.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) learned that authorities in said island-province were alerted by a call for help by a local.
Responding authorities were led to the scene with the victim’s body hanging by a cord tied to a tree. The victim was at least six hours dead at the time of the discovery.
In an interview over Bombo Radyo Iloilo, Police Officer 3 Jefferson Pugaja of the Jordan Police Office said family members disclosed that the victim left the family home Monday.
The victim’s wife reported her husband’s absence to police just about the time another call was received on the same concern.
TNT learned that scene of incident was a secluded area of the victim’s farm.
While no official word was released by police, sources said family problems led to the seaman’s suicide.
