Oton Cutflower Ass’n tours Capiz
The Oton Cutflowers Association Incorporated (OCAI) held an educational tour in the province of Capiz recently.
Ms. Velma S. Encanto, OCAI president, said the annual tour of the association members aimed to update them with new technologies and innovations done by well-known cutflower enthusiast and exporters of cutfoliage.
“We were able widen our exposure on different mediums used in growing cutflowers and cutfoliage and gained additional tips on maximum utilization of the area through proper landscaping,” said Ms. Encanto.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lily Ong of Greenland farm shares that the used of sanitized soil composed of carbonized rice hull, saw dust, sterilized sand and ordinary soil ensures 99 percent recovery of newly planted cutflowers and cutfoliage.
Ms. Ong stressed that as a cutflower enthusiast you must see to it that your plants is out in the market within three months or else you will get lose
The OCAI members visited Elica's garden of Sarah Pequierda, KDC farm of Judy A. Roxas, Talon Integrated farm of Edna A. Viterbo, and Greenland farm of Lily Ong.
The group also visited cutflower farm of Mr. Rolando at Brgy. Licu-an, Dingle, Iloilo for additional collection of cutflowers. (JEEO/RAFID 6)
