Alay Lakad Inc. collects P55,000 for Antique’s OSY
SAN JOSE, Antique – The Alay Lakad Inc., collected a total of P55,954.00 during its annual walk for a cause conducted Sept 25,2009.
Shirley Flores, Treasurer of Alay Lakad Inc., at the same time Treasury Operations Officer, Bureau of Treasury – Antique Office said this year’s theme “Dagun-Dagun ta para sa Para-abuton” implies vigorous efforts of everyone to help the government empower the youth especially the less privileged to become active partners in nation building.
Alay Lakad Inc., is still expecting more contributions until the end of the year since there are civic spirited individuals who pledged for more donations, just as they did in 2008 where contributions totaled to P66,800.00 by December, said Flores.
The town of San Jose is one among the group with the highest contributions. There are about 45 government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations, students and other civic spirited individuals and groups who joined the walk for a cause.
The contributions will fund the livelihood projects, capability building activities, scholarship programs and other psycho- social and economic services for the development of the less fortunate youth, among which are the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines Antique Chapter conventions and seminars and scholarship of four deserving students enrolled at STI and Advance Central College taking up vocational courses.
Antique Alay Lakad Inc., under the leadership of Jesus Escote, Provincial Statistics Officer aims to empower young Antiqueños to be self sufficient, productive and responsible citizens. (PSM/PIA)
