Blackout Photo Exhibit
Blackout is a group photo exhibit highlighting the unsung heroes and extraordinary places of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental through the interpretation and lenses of amateur and hobbyist photographers using the faces of unsigned and upcoming models.
The group aims to raise awareness about the treasures of Bacolod City and some parts of Negros that are oftentimes overlooked or neglected. Locations such as the Burgos Central Market, Chinese Cemetery and many more are used as the subjects of this photo exhibit.
Their works presents the reason why Bacolod as a city, and Negros Occidental as a province, is such a treasure and a source of pride to its people.
This project would also serve as a tribute to the unsung heroes, the local businesses, who helped shape Bacolod as a rapidly rising and progressive city.
The project is spearheaded by ten local photographers Anne Acaso, Bart Montinola, Ranie Decolongon, Rexel Baylon, Intel Japitana, Christine Bangero, Rommel Sancho, Jimbo Araneta, Kris dela Peña, and Joy Bangero in cooperation with the City Tourism Office and the Bacolod City government.
BLACKOUT debuted with the unveiling of its exhibit at the fountain area in Robinsons Place – Bacolod recently, with the Honorable Mayor Evelio R Leonardia as the guest of honor. A series of exhibits were slated to continue on the dates of November 1-7 in Planta Hotel; November 8-14 in O’ Hotel; November 15-21 in Sugarland Hotel; November 22-28 in Sylvia Manor; and the launching of coffee table book “BACOLOD RETURNS and BACOLODBLACKOUT.COM” on December 1, 2009.
