KALAHI-CIDSS volunteers receive gift-packs from SM-Share Your Extra’s
Some 2,000 families from the four KALAHI-CIDSS covered municipalities in Western Visayas recently received used clothing, blankets and toys from the SM Foundation’s Share Your Extra’s program.
The recipient-families came from the towns of Maasin and Ajuy in Iloilo and Don Salvador Benedicto and Murcia in Negros Occidental. Each town has 500 beneficiaries. The activity was held simultaneously in the two provinces.
In Iloilo, the gift-giving was held on March 12 and March 13 in Negros Occidental. The recipient families came from the different barangays of the four towns. They were properly identified by their town’s respective social welfare officer. There are also recipients from the different Gawad Kalinga villages aside from the KALAHI-CIDSS volunteers.
The affair was attended by the Ajuy Mayor Juancho Alvarez, Maasin Mayor Mariano Malones Jr. Mayor Esteban Coscolluela of Murcia and Vice Mayor Cynthia de la Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto. The members of the Sangguniang Bayan and municipal social worker development officers of the four municipalities also witnessed the worthwhile undertaking.
The SM Foundation was represented by Bob Navida, project manager of SM Foundation Mall- Based Outreach Programs; Mall- Based Outreach Program Coordinator Delfin Samson; SM-Bacolod City Public Relation Officer Lorena Martinez and SM-Iloilo City Public Relation Officer Troy Camarista.
The DSWD regional office was represented by KALAHI monitoring and evaluation officer Aurea Pascua and Perla Haro, DSWD-6 head of Standards Unit.
The Share Your Extra’s project is yearly undertaking of the foundation. It is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The corporation tapped the help of the social welfare department to ensure that deserving beneficiaries benefit from the project. (DSWD 6/ MMC)
