Squabble erupts anew between allies of 2 Estancia mayorables
A premonition for what could be a heated political exercise ensued anew in Estancia town, Iloilo.
Last Maundy Thursday, two supporters of incumbent Mayor Restituto Mosqueda accused supporters of former Mayor Rene Cordero for manhandling.
Forty-one-year old Joel Estolano, whose family is known supporter of Mosqueda, claimed that a certain Diokno Buaron, an ally of Cordero, mauled him while he was on his way home.
Estolano claimed that there was no apparent reason or cause for Buaron to manhandle him.
“Basi politika ang rason. Pero wala man ko sina dira ga-entra ‘ya,” he claimed.
As if to boost his allegations, Mario Araguin, 46, of Poblacion Zone 3, Estancia, also alleged that Buaron’s companions mauled him outside the Iglesia Filipina Independiente church while the Last Supper re-enactment was going on.
Araguin, also a known supporter of Mosqueda, claimed that their argument started after one of the suspects said that Mosqueda has no power over the group, Guardians Brotherhood in Estancia.
He claimed that he even pat the suspect’s shoulder but the latter punched him.
Another man allegedly poked a gun at him and he was told to lie on his stomach.
But according to Estancia Police Station chief Senior Insp. Dwight Fonte, Jr., he saw no politics in what happened to Araguin.
Based on police accounts, the complainant and a certain Mark Anthony Alleno quarreled on who was the founder of Guardians Brotherhood – Estancia Chapter.
Both are members of the group but Alleno, a resident of Estancia, belonged to Guardians Brotherhood based in Balasan, Iloilo.
At the height of their argument, the two allegedly exchanged punches.
Suddenly, a certain RR Yumol, also a Guardians’ member, pulled a gun and poked it on Araguin.
After the incident, Fonte claimed that the incident was reported to them.
“We conducted hot pursuit operation but we did not catch the suspect,” he revealed.
The Estancia PNP chief said that politics could not be faulted between their argument since it concerned the Guardians Brotherhood and not the candidacies of Mosqueda and Cordero.
“In fact, wala naman kaming naririnig kina Mayor Mosqueda at former Mayor Cordero. Tahimik naman sila,” Fonte noted.
He expressed that it’s quite disheartening to know that such incidents occurred when they have been working to sow a peaceful environment in Estancia even if the election nears.
