Cop who ‘harassed’ Treñas kids gets preventive suspension
A 90-preventive suspension was already recommended for PO1 Ronnie Refugio, the cop who allegedly harassed the four children of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Refugio faces administrative charge of grave abuse of authority before the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS).
But the cop’s legal counsel, lawyer Eugenio Original, already moved for the lifting of the preventive suspension against his client by filing a motion for reconsideration.
“We are asking for the reconsideration of the order considering that the ground for preventive suspension nga ma-influence ang outcome sang investigation or ma-destroy ang evidence or ma-influence ang witnesses,” Original claimed.
In the defendant’s motion for reconsideration, Original pointed out that his client could not possibly destroy any evidence while under investigation.
“Si Refugio waay man sang capacity to influence or destroy the evidence because there is no evidence because what they have are testimonies,” the lawyer pointed out.
While waiting for the decision of the RIAS on their motion for reconsideration, Refugio will still go on duty, Original stated.
To note, Refugio hugged the headlines after he was accused of harassing Treñas’ children during the latter’s relief goods giving among fire victims at Brgy.Nabitasan, La Paz, Iloilo City.
Siblings Raisa, Miguel, and their two brothers, who are both minors, reported to La Paz Police Station that they were at Nabitasan Elementarty School, the evacuation center for fire victims, when Refugio accosted them.
Shortly later, Refugio shouted at them but the siblings reportedly did not mind him.
However, the cop alleged stalked and threatened them.
