Hectic campaign takes toll on politicos’ health
With barely a month to go before the May 10 elections, politicians have intensified their campaign efforts in a bid to seal their victory.
But their hectic schedule has apparently taken its tool on their health.
Very recently, reports came out that Cong. JC Rahman Nava of the lone district of Guimaras province was reported to have suffered a stroke.
This, of course, was flatly denied by Nava’s camp.
Instead, Atty. John Edward Cando claimed that Nava, who is seeking re-election against Tomas Junco, Jr., of Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, experienced dizziness, a far cry from the stroke report.
Cando said that the latest medical examination on Nava’s health revealed that there’s nothing to worry, as far as his health condition is concerned.
“Gapa huway-huway sya subong. Daw okay naman siya. Daw naglingin-lingin ang iya ulo kay for the past days may mga engagements siya sa Manila ... may mga meeting siya,” he added.
Before he was rushed to the hospital for a check up, Cando said that they wrapped up their political rally late that night.
After which, Nava complained of dizziness prompting his physician wife to have him examined in a hospital in Iloilo City.
But soon, Cando said that Nava will be discharged from confinement.
Meanwhile, after the hoax stroke, reports also came out that former Justice Sec. Raul Gonzalez, Sr. went unconscious during a political engagement in Brgy. Simon Ledesma, Jaro, Iloilo.
Gonzalez is seeking the mayoralty post in Iloilo City against Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and former Local Water Utilities Local administrator Lorenzo Jamora.
But he denied this claiming that he just felt unwell after eating kansi and catfish, which he claimed are his favorite foods.
He claimed that he just went home and rest and returned to the venue.
In fact, he still managed to indulge in a 30-minute discourse in the area.
