Indian call center soon to set foot in Iloilo City
An Indian call center company is set to expand operations in Iloilo City by mid-year.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the Hinduja Global Solutions expressed a “firm decision” and is now scouting for office space in the metropolis as “they want to open here right away.”
He noted the call center firm targets to hire some 1,500 employees.
“We are very happy as we continue to get interest in the call center industry which continues to grow here – this is a very good development for the city,” said Treñas.
The mayor sat down Thursday to discuss the investment prospects with top business executives Antonio C. dela Cruz, senior vice-president for finance and corporate services and Pushka Misra, president and CEO for Philippine operations of Hinduja Global Solutions.
Treñas said the entry of giant call centers in the city would provide great employment opportunities for the Ilonggos and would keep them from migrating to Bacolod and Cebu to find jobs.
He added that the big investment would generate more money in circulation and create multiplier effects boosting the city’s economic activities.
According to its website www.hindujagsl.com, the Hinduja Global Solutions started its operations in 2000 in India and opened in Manila in 2003 and now has 23 delivery centers across the US, Canada, Mauritius, the Philippines and India.
It has acquired businesses of major international clients, some of who were among the leaders in the insurance and telecom industries, thus establishing itself as a force and major player in the industry. (PIO)
