Jamora juggernaut rolls
With still a few weeks to go until the local elections, the Jamora juggernaut has begun to roll towards inevitable victory.
Supporters to the candidacy of mayoralty bet Larry Jamora are coming out by the thousands in campaign sorties and rallies in the various districts.
In Arevalo, last Thursday, even Jamora’s leaders were surprised by the very warm reception received by Jamora. The expected crowd of just a few hundreds swelled to over a couple of thousands as many more Arevalo residents flocked to Jamora’s rally to see and hear their candidate personally, some for the very first time.
In the city proper district, the rally on Friday at Tanza-Bonifacio morphed into a summer love fest for Jamora as supporters from the nearby barangays around Tanza church further heated up the summer evening with a torch parade accompanied by a band and ati-atihan drummers. Meanwhile, youth volunteers who call themselves the Tropang Bida rocked the crowd with energetic song and dance numbers. The waterfront barangays, now considered Jamora country, were not to be outdone as they also turned in large numbers at the rally in Barangay Concepcion last Saturday.
On the other hand, on Sunday, some 200 youth volunteers barnstormed the entire Molo district calling on their classmates and peers as well as the parents in various barangays to support the best mayoralty candidate in the city.
At this stage, it has become apparent that the so-called bandwagon phenomenon, considered by campaign tacticians as essential to victory, has already begun for Larry Jamora. The surge in support for Jamora is already the talk of the town. In coffeeshops, in the local tiangge, in offices, and even in the malls, whenever talk turns to politics, they talk about Larry Jamora and the very palpable increase in his voter’s base.
A better way, perhaps is to ask the driver every time you ride a jeepney, taxi, trisikad, or tricycle. Ask any driver who his candidate for mayor is and they will tell you – nine times out of ten – Jamora.
