Teeners complain gun-wielding cop
Three teenagers complained a policeman for brandishing his firearm Wednesday evening at Gen. Hughes St., City Proper, Iloilo City.
One of the three complainants, 19-year old Vander Bautista, identified the suspect as PO2 Felix Muchada, Jr. of the PNP Regional Intelligence Division based at Camp Delgado, Iloilo City.
Bautista claimed that his cousin and younger sister, who are both minors, were allegedly harassed by Muchada’s companions who were later identified as Jett Guante and Rene Casquero, both of Pototan, Iloilo, and temporarily residing at Brgy. Sto. Rosario-Duran, City Proper.
The trio were on a drinking binge at a roadside store when the incident happened.
“Nagbakal kami sang inasal. Pagbalik namon, mamangkot ko tani. Ang isa to, wala pa ka pakilala nga pulis, naggabot siya armas niya,” Bautista alleged.
One of his teenage companions then warned him that the self-proclaimed policeman was armed.
At this juncture, Muchada allegedly dispelled the fear he caused among teenagers by claiming that he is a policeman and the incident was “nothing.”
They immediately report what happened to the nearby Waterfront Detachment.
However, to their surprise, no gun was seen on Muchada, who was on civilian clothes.
The trio, now accompanied by Bautista’s mother, claimed that they saw a duty policeman from the detachment and escorted Muchada at the comfort room.
When Muchada came out, he was allegedly carrying a different bag, far from the one he sported when he allegedly threatened the teenagers with his gun.
Since no firearm was taken from Muchada or any of his companions, they were released from detention.
Instead, Waterfront cops advise the complainant to place formal charge before the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS).
Since gun ban is still enforced until June 9, the complainants alleged that Muchada should not have been carrying a gun, even if he is a policeman, since he was not on duty, not in proper police uniform, and was hanging out for a drinking spree.
