Western Union employee loses almost P400T to hold-up men
An employee of the Western Union Money Transfer lost almost P400,000 cash after a robbery incident Tuesday afternoon at Brgy. Quingaringan Pequiño, Passi City, Iloilo.
Reports said that Ailyn Lenteja, 48, of Brgy, Madong, Janiuay, Iloilo, and a puller of Western Union Money Transfer – Calinog, Iloilo branch, was on board a passenger jeepney bound to Calinog town when the robbery took place.
From Passi City, information claimed that three persons on board a red motorcycle had been tailing the jeepney.
When they reached Brgy. Quingaringan Pequiño, the motorcycle sped off and overtook the jeepney.
The motorcycle driver then blocked the jeepney and one of the suspects immediately alighted and approached the driver.
As he waved his gun at the jeep’s driver, the armed suspect ordered him to stop.
The two suspects, on the other hand, directly went to Lenteja.
At gunpoint, the suspects forcibly took Lenteja’s bag containing the money transfer cash amounting to P395,000 and her personal money of P2, 275.
Aside from Lenteja, the suspects also took the handbag of passenger Shelly Paez, 37, of Brgy. Quingaringan Grande, Passi City.
The bag contained Paez’s mobile phone and assorted keys of the medical clinic and drug store owned by a certain Dr. Panes.
Before boarding the motorcycle, one suspects fired his caliber .45 pistol to scare off the jeepney’s passengers.
They then sped off towards Calinog town.
Members of Passi City Police Station conducted hot pursuit operation against the suspect but yielded negative result.
