Pontevedra mayor’s 2nd term priority projects bared
ROXAS CITY – Reelected Pontevedra Mayor Steve Contreras, M.D. bared his priority development projects for his 2nd term in his town.
According to him, such priorities, which were not finished during his first term, are municipal hall building phase II and III, barangay and municipal roads, public market and others.
Contreras, for the second time around, defeated opponent former Mayor Jojie Avelino giving him a margin of 591 votes in 2007 and 1,763 votes in May 10, 2010.
His running mate Vice Mayor-elect Dr. Nelson Oquendo, Jr. and four councilors also won.
With this election result, according to him, the Liberal Party (LP) is still the majority at the council since the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman and the vice mayor belong to their group.
“I believe that the UKC councilors will support any measures such as ordinances and resolutions intended for development projects in Pontevedra,” Contreras said.
He also said that he welcomes any UKC councilors who wanted to support his administration.
Meanwhile, Contreras said that he is going to have reorganization among municipal department heads and employees for the effective services to the people of Pontevedra.
It was learned that some department heads supported Avelino and running mate former Mayor Arturo “Turing” Tumlos in the recent election.
