Nutrition evaluation in Iloilo towns starts
Which municipalities in Iloilo have most efficiently and effectively implemented their nutrition programs?
Iloilo Provincial Nutrition Coordinator Rosarie San Luis said this will be known after the conduct of the evaluation on the implementation of the nutrition programs of the different municipalities in the province for calendar year 2009 starting Wednesday, June 2.
For eight days, the evaluation team composed of the representatives of the member agencies of the Iloilo Provincial Nutrition Committee and the Provincial Nutrition Technical Working Group will visit the 16 municipalities of Iloilo including Passi City to assess their respective local government’s performances and accomplishments for nutrition.
The evaluation team is scheduled to be in the following areas: June 2- Ajuy and Btac. Viejo; June 3–Estancia and Concepcion; June 4–Calinog and Passi City; June 7–New Lucena and Sta.Barbara; June 8–Janiuay and Cabatuan; June 9–Tigbauan and Oton; June 10–Tubungan and Guimbal; and on June 11- San Joaquin and Miag-ao.
The group, chaired by Provincial Health Officer I Ma. Socorro Quiñon, was also tasked to look for outstanding barangay nutrition scholar and nutrition committee in the province during their evaluation.
In last year’s evaluation and assessment, the municipality of New Lucena was named as Outstanding Nutrition Program Implementor and Brgy. Daga, Sta. Barbara as Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee.
The winners represented the province in the regional evaluation and assessment. The activity is part of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) being conducted by the National Nutrition Council.
