100 unemployed women of Concepcion get aids
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 recently released the amount of P710 thousand aimed to assist 100 women of Concepcion, Iloilo in starting their livelihood activities.
Dr. Raul Banias, former Mayor of Concepcion who currently heads the Office of Presidential Assistant for Regional Development in Western Visayas, received the check in behalf of the local government of Concepcion, headed by Mayor Elizabeth T. Salcedo.
The amount will be used to fund the skills training on Sewing, Food Processing and Cosmetology which the beneficiaries have chosen to embark on and to purchase equipment, materials and tools that they will use for processing and production.
The 100 beneficiaries are members of the Women Associations from the ten barangays of that town ; 40 of them will undergo skills training in Sewing, 40 in Food Processing and 20 in Cosmetology.
Labor 6 Director Aida M. Estabillo said this livelihood assistance will provide the women with skills they could use to start their livelihood activities and earn income.
On Sewing, the amount involved is P316,370 – P105,875 for the training and P210,495 for equipment, such as 10 units of Singer Sewing Machines, sewing kits, cutting scissors and thread cutter, and materials.
On Food Processing, the amount is P352,685 – P106,000 for the training and P246,685 for materials and equipment such as Chest Freezer, Gas Stove, Stainless tables, and meat grinder, among others.
On Cosmetology, the amount is P40,920 for materials and tools to be used in haircutting, manicure, pedicure and make up.
The local government of Concepcion, the DOLE’s accredited co-partner, put-up an equity in the amount of P177,125 or 20% of the total project cost to meet the other requirements of the project.
As ACP, it is tasked to implement and monitor the project.
The LGU-Concepcion had been a recipient of various DOLE livelihood projects like the Promotion of Employment through Self Employment and Entrepreneurship and Development (PRESEED), Poverty Free Zone (PFZ) Program, and Tulong Pangkabuhayan Sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD).
