Two brothers, uncle hurt in stabbing spree
Two brothers and their uncle were wounded following a commotion Sunday evening at Brgy. Cabanbanan, Oton, Iloilo.
Injured were Arnel Almares, 23, and his younger brother, 21-year old Adrian, also of the said place.
Arnel suffered hematoma after was struck with a iron pipe and multiple stabbed wounds while Adrian sustained a minor stab injury on his back.
Their uncle, 41-year old Danilo Caro, was also hurt during the incident.
He suffered stab wounds on his abdomen and left side of the body.
Police investigators have yet to rule how the incident started but reports claimed that an argument between Danilo and his two nephews started the incident.
Since all of them were drunk, a petty argument turned into a physical brawl.
The Almares brothers allegedly ganged up on their uncle who was also armed with an iron pipe.
Caro haphazardly struck his nephews who were also engaging him on a fistfight.
When Caro’s stepson, Jake Garcia, saw the incident, he stabbed Arnel and Aldrin.
Since Aldrin was not seriously hit, he ran towards their house and got a knife and stabbed Danilo.
The two brothers were initially brought to Saviour International Hospital and later transferred to Western Visayas Medical Center, both in Iloilo City.
Danilo, on the other hand, was rushed to Guimbal District Hospital and was referred to West Visayas State University Medical Center for further treatment.
After Aldrin was treated, he was directly put behind bars at Oton Police Station, together with Garcia who voluntarily surrendered shortly after the incident.
The families of the two aggrieved parties are yet to file charges and counter-charges against each other.
