2 ‘daily double’ bet collectors arrested
Two bet collectors of illegal numbers game “daily double” were arrested Wednesday evening in Sara town by members of the 7th Public Safety Management Maneuver Platoon.
Arrested were Hernan Seridio, 58, and Rigor Valde, 28, both of Zerrudo, Sara, Iloilo.
Valde was driving a motorcycle while Seridio was riding with him.
When authorities frisked them, Seridio was found with betting lists, cash of P1,589, a ballpen, and a bag.
Valde said he was just a driver but admitted to have known about the “daily double” operation.
Seridio, for his part, confessed to be a bet collector and said he was about to remit his collection to the nearby Ajuy town when they were intercepted.
He said he has been collecting bets for only a month, and he believes the draw is done in Iloilo City.
But he vehemently refused to name the illegal gambling operator that he works for.
A few days back, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., police regional director, ordered a crackdown on all forms of illegal gambling in Western Visayas.
He issued a directive to all staff and field commanders – from municipal and city chiefs of police to city and provincial police office directors – in Region 6 to launch an offensive against illegal gambling.*
