Mabilog: Treñas Boulevard off-limits to vehicles
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the Treñas Boulevard should be off-limits to vehicles as city residents use the one-kilometer road for walking and jogging.
This was stressed by Mabilog following suggestions that the street be opened to vehicles going to Mandurriao district particularly in Tabucan and Diversion Road and vice versa.
The mayor shot down the proposal, saying his priority is to make the street an exclusive venue for exercise.
He suggested instead that motorists use the nearby Pison Street in going to Mandurriao district.
Two years ago, the riverside street was built as part of the component river development program of the Iloilo Flood Control Project.
Last year, the City Council approved that the street be named as the Efrain Treñas Boulevard in honor of the late Constitutional Convention delegate, Dean Efrain Treñas, father of Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas.
