‘Hilot’ training held
ROXAS CITY – A training on traditional Filipino massage known as “hilot” was conducted by the Association of Resorts, Restaurants and Hotels of Capiz last August 8 to 12 at the Pag-ulikid Training Center in Brgy. Lanot here.
The five-day activity was aimed to equip participants with knowledge and skills on “hilot” that would provide them an alternative source of income.
Hilot trainer and practitioner Anecito “Atho” de la Cruz Jr. provided inputs during the training which utilized lectures, audio visual presentations and actual demonstrations.
De la Cruz is the executive director of Kasanag Well-being Centre in Quezon City, a spa consultant, and former committee chairman for membership and events of Spa Association of the Philippines Inc.
The Provincial Tourism Office is expecting that the “hilot” massage offering will attract more tourists to Capiz.
The training was held in coordination with the PTO, Department of Tourism 6, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
“Hilot” is an ancient Filipino art of healing commonly used today to relax stressed muscles.
The hilot practitioner intuitively scans the body with touch to diagnose areas which are energetically imbalanced.*
