Guimaras conducts clean-up vs dengue
Guimaras Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava has encouraged his constituents to exert an all-out effort to curb the seemingly unabated rise of dengue cases.
The Provincial Health Office has reported more than 400 dengue infections in the island-province from January to August this year.
Nava, a physician himself, warned the Guimarasnons that unless effective measures to stop the dengue surge in Guimaras are applied, the number of infections could easily hit 600 by November this year.
He also cautioned his provincemates against complacency in the war against dengue as recent reports reaching his office indicated a drop in dengue infections throughout the province.
To show that Guimaras is resolved in checking the spread of dengue, Nava led a multi-sectoral group represented by Capitol employees, the military and police, and students in a symbolic clean-up activity around the provincial capitol.*PNA
