Guimaras updates tourism database
The province of Guimaras is undertaking a more intensified data gathering on the number of visitors arriving at the island-province daily, as part of the development planning it is undertaking.
Guimaras Tourism Officer Angeles Gabinete, in a radio interview, said they aim to determine the percentage share of tourists and visitors accommodated in the province for a given period and how much percent are going to other destinations or tourist spots in Guimaras.
Gabinete said they need the data for planning purposes to come up with a mechanism to engage the private sector in investing in the province.
The province has also been stepping up its infrastructures, including the proposed windmill, bridges and roads that can facilitate access and mobility and enhance economic development.
Recently, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III issued Executive Order No. 8 to fast-track infrastructure development under Public-Private partnership programs and projects.
This EO renamed the Build-Operate Transfer Center to Public-private partnership Center of the Philippines, which has a function of extending assistance to all local government units and other government instrumentalities in project implementation, among others.*PIA
