1 killed, 3 wounded in bar fracas
One person was killed while three others were wounded following a mêlée at a restaurant-bar in Brgy. Hibao-an, Pavia, Iloilo Tuesday last week.
Police report shows that victim Sergio Cepeda, 27, of Brgy. Lonoy, Calinog town was drinking with a friend when they had a conflict with another group of customers over a woman .
Police Officer 3 Elmer Cordero said after they received information about the incident, his team proceeded to the area and found the dead Cepeda on the pavement.
Cordero brought him to the hospital and found out that three other men involved in the fight were also being treated for stab injuries.
Police surmised the three victims – brothers John and Reyman Galanto and Gener Lamar – were part of the group that stabbed Cepeda.
Farmer Gunned Down
Meanwhile, a farmer was shot dead recently at Brgy. Cabatangan, the farthest village of Lambunao, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as Jonathan Loreto alias “Ama,” 50.
Loreto was on his farm when the three suspects approached him.
His wife, Edna, claimed that brothers Joey Lucero and Nito Lucero and Bryan Lavilla, also residents of the said village, shot her husband.
Loreto was hit on the shoulder but managed to run off while asking for help.
Edna said the suspects chased her husband and again shot him.
The suspects left only after ensuring that her husband was dead, she said.
Senior Police Officer 3 Quirico Legaste Jr. said the motive of the killing could be traced to conflict between the families of the victim and the suspects.*JPR
