3 towns top dengue cases
The towns of Pototan, Cabatuan and Tigbauan have the highest number of dengue cases in Iloilo province.
The Provincial Health Office in its Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit advisory shows that Pototan, some 34 kilometers from the city, has 359 dengue cases with two deaths as of September 11.
The town of Cabatuan, 24 kilometers from Iloilo City, has 338 dengue cases with four confirmed deaths.
The third town with the most dengue cases is Tigbauan, with 326.
Other towns with the most confirmed dengue cases were Passi City with 255 cases and one death, Janiuay with 226 and one death, and Guimbal with 225 cases.
Rounding the top 10 towns are Sta. Barbara with 161 cases and two deaths, Alimodian with 143 cases, Oton with 136 and two deaths, and Pavia with 120 cases.
Following the list is the town of Miagao with 113 cases and one death; Barotac Nuevo with 108, Leon with 107, Tubungan with 106 and Dumangas with 102.
PHO said they have confirmed a total of 4,399 dengue cases and 26 deaths. This is a 432.5-percent increase compared to the same period last year which only have 826 confirmed dengue case.
Earlier, Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said the province will not stop its programs against dengue.
He reiterated his call for the Ilonggos to clean their surroundings and destroy breeding areas of mosquitoes.*PNA
