12 villages under tight watch
Around 12 barangays in Capiz will be closely monitored by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) in the upcoming synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 25.
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, director of the CPPO, said that the barangays that are in the elections area of concern are mostly those that are affected by insurgency.
He admitted that the communist terrorists will be the main threat this coming election, adding that there are no armed groups in the province.
In line with this, he disclosed that police teams have been created to secure all polling places this election. He also requested for an additional 200 policemen as augmentation force from the regional headquarters.
A team will be deployed to secure two villages that are included in the watchlist. Meanwhile, where the situation is normal a team may cover five barangays.
Meanwhile, 30 checkpoints have been conducted daily since the start of the election period with three checkpoints daily in 10 selected municipalities.*PNA
