FCU appoints Lastimoso as criminal justice consultant
ROXAS CITY – Former chief of the Philippine National Police Roberto Lastimoso has joined Filamer Christian University as consultant for its College of Criminal Justice.
The acceptance of Lastimoso, an adopted honorary alumni of FCU, was announced in a press conference Monday.
Dr. Expedito Seneres, FCU president, said they thought of hiring Lastimoso after Dr. Fernando Diaz and trustee Jessie Contreras proposed the tapping of the former PNP chief’s expertise to enhance the university’s Criminology course.
Contreras said the FCU Criminology Department is the best among the schools offering Criminology because it is already a university, adding that Lastimoso as consultant can help the school excel more in the field of criminal justice.
FCU first offered Bachelor of Science in Criminology in June 2007. The vision of the Department of Criminal Justice is to serve as a channel in the training of individuals in vigilant and efficient law enforcement while its mission is to produce responsible, competent, qualified and peace-abiding graduates.
Lastimoso, for his part, said it is an honor and privilege for him to become the university’s consultant.
He said he is willing to share his experience to help Criminology students.
Even he is mostly based in Manila, Lastimoso said he will visit the school once a month.
Lastimoso, a native of Mambusao, finished his General Staff Course at the Armed Forces of the Philippines and his Master in Public Administration at the Philippine College of Criminology. He was given an honorary doctorate degree in Philosophy by the same school.
Lastimoso also served as the general manager of the Metro Rail Transit, assistant secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication, and chief of the Land Transportation Office.*
