Statistics Month celebration kicks off
ROXAS CITY – Various national government agencies, schools, and civic organizations in Capiz are taking part in the 21st National Statistics Month celebration.
Assistant Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Stephen Bediones said this year’s activity kicked off with a motorcade yesterday around the major streets in Roxas City.
“This was followed by the opening of the Statistical Exhibits at the lobby of the provincial capitol building which will run until October 22,” he said.
The 19th Philippine Statistics Quiz will be conducted by the National Statistics Office on October 27.
The National Statistics Month was first observed in 1990 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 signed by then President Corazon Aquino on Sept. 20, 1990, which declares the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month.
The celebration aims to promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society, and elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
This year’s celebration is themed “Towards a Philippine Statistical System Responsive to emerging National and Global Challenges.”* PIA
