City budget for 2011 seen at P1.248 billion
The Iloilo City Government is expecting a 6.3 percent hike, equivalent to P74 million, in its 2011 budget.
City Budget Officer Ninda Atinado said the city government is pushing for a P1.248-billion budget from its only P1.175 billion appropriation this year.
The bulk of the budget, amounting to P480 million, or 39 percent of the entire proposed appropriation, will go to personnel services, followed by the allocation for special purposes appropriation at 35 percent or P441 million.
The special purposes appropriation covers the city government’s contractual and statutory obligations, allowances, and payment for loans among others.
Also, 25 percent or P313 million will be for the maintenance and other operating expenses, and P13 million, or one percent for the capital outlay.
The fund for the proposed budget will come mostly from the local source at 53 percent, equivalent to P656 million, while the remaining 47 percent will be taken from the Internal Revenue Allotment Fund worth P592 million.*PNA
