CRC to isolate drug suspect
ROXAS CITY – Recaptured illegal drug suspect Sulpicio Marcelino will be isolated in a maximum security detention cell inside the Capiz Rehabilitation Center, police said.
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, director of Capiz Provincial Police Office, said in a press conference Tuesday policemen will augment security for Marcelino.
Marcelino, a drug pushing suspect, bolted the CRC on September 24 and was recaptured in Montalban, Rizal on October 16.
CRC Warden Arjuna Yngcong, who has been placed under preventive suspension for Marcelino’s escape, had earlier said it was his asset who informed him that Marcelino was sighted in Montalban.
Chief Insp. Capillan of the CPPO said he received a text message from the asset on Friday about Marcelino’s whereabouts.
Marcelino was flown back to Roxas City on Tuesday morning and was presented to the media upon his arrival.
Lawyer Jose Villanueva, provincial administrator and legal counsel, said despite Marcelino’s recapture, they will continue their investigation on his escape.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. said he will work for additional prison guards and for the improvement of the CRC facilities.
He said the recapture of Marcelino should serve as a warning to inmates who are planning to escape.*
