BIR: 12 establishments under tax surveillance
The Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office 74 has put under surveillance 12 business establishments in Iloilo City
BIR Revenue District Officer Nelia Demalata said that they are now conducting surveillance operations on the 12 business establishments because of the reported violations such as the non-issuance of official receipts.
The surveillance, which has already started, will be for ten days and if found to have probable cause will be tantamount for the BIR to issue a notice of closure to owners.
The other violation that the BIR is looking into is the underdeclaration of more than 30 percent of sales by the establishments.
Demalata said that since January this, they have already recommended and implemented the closure on 10 establishments the latest of which were at the Jiecel and Thea Restaurant in Mandurriao, Iloilo City and the All In Merchandizing in JM Basa St., Iloilo City.
Last year, the RDO 74 has closed four establishments in Iloilo City.
Demalata said the surveillance and closure of establishments is a strong warning for business establishment owners in Iloilo City that the BIR is really pursuing tax evaders.*PNA
