Infra projects offered to private players
Local government units in the province of Iloilo are eyeing public-private partnerships (PPP) for various infrastructure projects.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said that public-private partnerships will allow for the faster implementation of various infrastructure projects.
PPPs are known to construct buildings at a faster timeline, as well as better in terms of quality since they have a name to protect.
Banias also said that LGUs should really be considering tapping PPPs in their future projects. He said that this has been the practice in progressive cities like Cebu and Manila.
Some of these projects offered to PPPs included the Information Technology (IT) Park which will be established at the Iloilo Provincial Government property at Brgy. Magsaysay in La Paz, Iloilo City.
Other projects include the provincial government training and student center, which is a three-storey building with modern facilities and services. As well as the Iloilo Government Center which is a multi-storey structure that would house government agencies that have no permanent offices.
Iloilo Business Club executive director Leah Lara said private investors are better at implementing these projects.*PNA
