Iloilo rice production ‘very good’
Iloilo Provincial Agriculturist Ildefonso Toledo said the rice production for the first cropping in the province this year is very good with an increase in fact from 3.5 percent to 3.8 percent.
Toledo further said he is confident with the ongoing harvest, more production could still be registered.
Based on the latest data of the Iloilo provincial agriculture office, the total grand production for first cropping is 89,768.2 metric tons.
The production is from the 23,351.5 hectares of irrigated and rain-fed areas that had been planted with hybrid, certified, and good seeds for the first cropping.
Harvest is now ongoing in the province’s 28 municipalities mostly from the fifth district.
Toledo said that the harvest for the first cropping could reach until November this year because of the delayed planting.*PNA
