DPWH 6 completes 83% of P4.4-B funded projects in WV
Close to 83 percent of the P4.4 billion funded projects in Western Visayas are already completed as of end of September, according to Department of Public Works and Highways 6.
Assistant Regional Director Juby Cordon said the DPWH has been “very prudent in the implementation of projects” and only those with an allotment are being implemented.
The P4.4 billion fund covers 734 projects in various provinces of Western Visayas.
Cordon said that as of September 434 projects have been completed; 176 are still ongoing while 35 are about to start this month.
Among the high impact projects are the P30 million circumferential road in Boracay Island which is already 79 percent completed and the 70 percent completed Aklan East Road worth P76 million all in the province of Aklan.
In Antique the biggest project is the P45 million secondary road in Sibalom and San Remegio which is about 30 percent completed.
Meantime, almost of the projects in Iloilo are almost completed with concentration mostly at the Iloilo East Coast, secondary roads with funds ranging from P10- 20 million.
Two high impact projects are on-going in Negros Occidental, the more than P400 million Bacolod North Road and the P400 million Bacolod South Road. The projects, which are composed of road sections are already about 80 to 90 percent completed.
In Guimaras the DPWH is implementing the circumferential and central line roads composed of 15 projects worth P168.34 million. The completion rate is at 85 percent she said with seven already completed; two are ongoing and six are still on the pre-construction stage.
All funded projects in Capiz has been completed, she disclosed. Projects under Capiz I implemented projects worth P28.7 million while Capiz II completed P155 million worth of projects.
Major projects are the Iloilo-Capiz East Coast Road under Capiz I and Tapaz-Jamindan National road and Duyoc-Panit-an, Dumarao-Dacoton and Iloilo-Capiz Road. *PNA
