Fire razes 25 houses in Boracay
At least 25 houses were destroyed by fire Wednesday evening at Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan province.
Reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire started at 9:23 p.m. at the upland portion of the island’s Station 3.
Fire Officer 1 Christopher Dequia said three fire trucks were deployed. Fire volunteers from various establishments also responded.
The fire was declared under control after two hours.
Dequia said three persons were wounded, including a fireman and a resident who fell from one of the houses.
Initial reports pegged the damage at P1 million.
As of press time, Dequia said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.*
