Capiz vice guv complains over lost belongings in Iloilo hotel
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Vice Gov. Esteban Contreras has cried foul over the failure of an Iloilo hotel to replace his personal belongings that were stolen from his room more than a month ago.
Contreras told The News Today that on October 28, while he was staying at Eon Centennial Hotel in Jalandoni St., Iloilo City, someone entered his room and took his two cellular phones, an XDA Executive and a Nokia.
He was in Iloilo City then to attend a local budgeting seminar together with his colleagues in the Provincial Board at Grand Tower hotel.
At around 8 p.m. of October 28, he left his room and when he returned at around 12:30 a.m. the next day, he discovered that his black bag was already open and the two cellular phones and chargers inside it were missing.
He reported the incident to the hotel management and to the police.
Contreras said the hotel management asked him not to report the incident to the media. He agreed to the request as they promised that his personal belongings will be returned or replaced after a 15-day investigation.
He said that when he checked out on October 30, he also left a letter-complaint.
Contreras said he again sent another letter-complaint to the hotel management on November 8, but he has yet to receive a reply until now.*
