CPPO supports ‘Iwas Paputok’ drive
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz Provincial Police Office has directed the various police station in the province to help implement the Department of Health’s (DOH) “Iwas Paputok” campaign during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, CPPO director, said the campaign must be included in the daily Police Community Relation (PCR) activities specifically in the various information drive like tri-media interviews, barangay dialogue, symposium and school/barangay house visitation, among others.
Chief Insp. Orlando Colisao, chief of CPPO Operations Section, said Western Visayas was among those with the highest firecracker victims in 2009.
“Let us not allow seconds of happiness to ruin our celebration and the future of our children,” he said.
The Philippine National Police initiative is being complemented with posters by DOH containing images of an injured hand with reminders and warnings in bold texts posted in conspicuous places in the province.
Colisao the PNP too will observe precautionary measures during the New Year celebration.
The simultaneous taping of the muzzles of firearms of all PNP personnel in the province will be conducted.
“Anyone who will be found violating the directive of the higher office will certainly face charges,” he said.*PIA
