Fire hits orphanage; 25 children rescued
ROXAS CITY – The Our Lady of Grace Academy’s Orphanage building in Brgy. Lonoy here was hit by fire dawn Saturday but no one was hurt as the children, including three infants, were rescued by concerned residents in the neighborhood.
The Bureau of Fire Protection placed the damage at P1.2 million after the wooden portions of the two-storey building were burned.
Fire trucks from neighboring towns also responded.
Mayor Angel Alan Celino and Councilor Powell del Rosario came to the fire scene and vowed to extend help to the victims.
Investigators said the fire was caused by an overheated ceiling fan.*
