TBS 13 member nabbed for ‘rape’
A self-confessed member of True Brown Style (TBS) 13 was arrested by the police over the weekend at Brgy. Buray, Oton, Iloilo for allegedly raping his 15-year-old girlfriend.
Reynaldo Abaygar, 22, of Sta. Filomena, Arevalo, Iloilo City is the younger brother of Dante Abaygar, founder of TBS 13, a youth gang which gained notoriety for robbing and killing taxi drivers as part of their initiation rites.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office Special Operations Group and Arevalo Police Station collared Reynaldo while he was seeking refuge at the house of his fellow TBS 13 member, along with some companions.
Police Officer 2 Rex Wendam said, however, only Abaygar has a pending arrest warant.
He was charged for rape but when his arrest warrant was released, the charges were lowered down to two counts of violation of Section 5, Article 3 of Republic Act 7610 or taking advantage of influence or relationship to procure a child as prostitute.
The bailbond for his provisional liberty is P120,000 for each count.
Abaygar admitted something intimate happened between him and the girl but he denied that he raped her.
He said the girl’s family does not like him and forced her to file charges against him.*
