Three policemen may be relieved over drug den
Three police officers of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) living near the demolished drug den in Brgy. Malipayon have been recommended for relief from their posts for failure to monitor the existence of the rampant drug trade in the area.
Senior Supt. Marietto Valerio, ICPO officer-in-charge, did not name the three police officers but said he wants these policemen reassigned to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
Seven stalls inside the drug den or “shabu tiangge” were demolished by the Task Force Malipayon Friday last week. Four suspected drug users were also arrested during the raid.
Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol Jr., police regional director, had earlier said
Brgy. Malipayon and its neighboring village of Tanza Esperanza in City Proper, have been 90 percent cleared of drugs following the discovery and destruction of the drug den.
The halt in the operations of the “shabu tiangge” paved the way for the cessation of the flagrant sale and use of illegal drugs, particularly shabu, in the two villages, he said.*MGC
