LCP to issue stand on extension of terms
The League of Cities in the Philippines (LCP) is expected to issue today (Wednesday) their stand on the proposed extension of terms of local government officials until 2010.
Mayor Jerry Treņas, who is also the LCP president said they will make public their stand on the issues on the extension of terms after the National Conference on Decentralization and Federalism.
The conference which is participated by different mayors in the country ended yesterday (Tuesday) at the Sarabia Manor Hotel.
Among the discussions in the conference are the parliamentary and federal systems experiences in Australia and Germany. They also dealt on Metropolitan Arrangements in the Philippines: Trends and Prospects and Experiences on Metropolitan Arrangements- Here and Abroad.
However, Treņas went to Manila for the meeting of the Council of State in Malacaņang. The Council of State is the highest consultative and advisory body of the government including former presidents of the country.
The meeting serves as a forum for exchange of ideas, foster national cooperation, propose meaningful reforms in the government and advising the President on matters of public policy.
