Approval of 2006 national budget still dim
Villar
Senator Manny Villar said there is still no indication from the Lower House as regards the approval of the 2006 national budget amounting to P1.05 trillion as the lower chamber wants to have a reenacted budget.
Villar said the national budget has yet to be reported for floor debates in the lower chamber. The budget should have been tackled on the House in three to four weeks time. The senator was here Saturday for the opening of the Jaro Agro-Industrial Fair wherein his daughter Camille is this year's Jaro Fiesta Queen.
With the stalled national budget, the proposed P13.1 billion for the additional allowance of about 1.1 million national government workers is also at stake. He said the government employees are already angry of the delay in the approval of the national budget.
There were also some moves to have a separate budget for the salaries of government workers. They should simplify the budget, he said.
Meanwhile, Rep. Cynthia Villar said the House of Representatives is more keen on the proposed Charter Change than the discussion on the approval of the national budget.
If Speaker Jose De Venecia wants to fast track the approval of the budget they can do it in the House of Representatives, she said.
