CPU hosts 50th CBYFP nat'l assembly
Hundreds of young people from approximately 746 local Baptist churches all over the Philippines, divided into 12 Kasapulanan (church associations), gather as one fellowship at the University Church, Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo City beginning yesterday to celebrate its 50th assembly from May 22 to 26, 2007.
Convention Baptist Youth Fellowship of the Philippines (CBYFP) is a national organization of Baptist youth, which aims to provide effective and dynamic programs to nurture wholly matured, fully empowered, readied and trained Christian youth for the furtherance of Christ's Kingdom on earth.
With the theme CBYFP at 50: In Unity and Hope and text found in Ephesians 4:11-16, this 5-day event will kicked off yesterday afternoon with a city-wide motorcade and a lights parade around the CPU campus.
Other activities include Kasapulanan Fiesta and Kasapulanan Expression, wherein it will highlight the various cultures of the youth, Talents Explosion, and a Mission Trip to Maasin Watershed as a response to the water crisis in Iloilo City.
Central Philippine University and Globe Telecom are the major partners of this golden celebration. Other partner organizations include CPU University Church, DENR-Region VI, Iloilo City ENRO-Office of the City Mayor, CPU Alumni Channel 8, GMA -- Iloilo TV 6, The News Today, Green Forum Western Visayas, NCCP, CPBC, Jaro Evangelical Church, Baptist Center Church, Christian Community Church, KAPAWA Maasin, and Western Visayas Ecumenical Council.
